Fiery Dragon (V2)

Partial wet folded in red Golden River leather paper.
Likely the most difficult model that I have completed and by far the most demanding in terms of technique. This built on my past few models using partial wet folding with MC and took at least as long to shape as it took to fold. Probably about 6-8 hours folding, and over 10 hours of intermittent shaping. I individually shaped every single flap in this model by wetting with MC, shaping, allowing to dry, and then moving on. I used paperclips and clothespins to shape and actually collapsed the body down fully during shaping, only opening it up as the very last step to make it fully 3D. This made it easier to shape the body by clamping across.
I love how this one turned out. I’m amazed it’s able to stand, it’s perfectly balanced on those little feet (which each have 3 toes). I think it looks menacing, like it’s about to attack, and it looks awesome from the front as well as the side (slightly angled towards the front). It’s even cool from the back. My biggest gripe is with the tail, I think it could potentially use some shaping to give divots on the segments and I wish the paper had held up better for this. I think the paper was a little too thick for this model, but I was able to make it work with the MC.
